Music is an important part of
the life of this parish, as we believe the admonition of St. Augustine
that "singing is praying twice." Service of the divine liturgy is the
most important thing that we do together as community. Over the years,
the choirs of Holy Trinity have included a vested choir of men and boys, a mixed choir of
adults, and in the past generation, a children's choir.
As Episcopalians, we have a musical heritage that is one of
the world's richest and most deeply spiritual. For 1,400 years Anglican
church music has evolved as an extremely diverse and multi-layered art
that celebrates and encompasses many different traditions.
Our mission is to glorify God with music performed to the highest

standards of excellence in
order to transcend the earthly and to express what cannot be expressed. Our music provides a marvelous means
of outreach to the community, as well as involving parishioners with the
music and worship of this parish through choirs, concerts, teaching and
leadership.
Under the direction of Minister of Music
Michael Fazio, the parish is seeing an important transformation of the
music program. With an eye on the concept of
total common ministry, Mike has begun
involving as many parishioners in the development of this ministry
as possible. Some are involved in planning, others in singing,
composing or performing.
A number of special musical services have been added to the
worship of the parish. We held evensong for the Sundays of
Advent, culminating in lessons and carols for Christmas. We have also joined forces with St. Paul
and Christ Lutheran Churches for various services. We offer a limited concert series,
offering various instrumental and vocal ensembles. In February, we celebrated Mardi Gras in cooperation with First and South
Congregational Churches. The evening included a concert with
Heartbeat Jazz Band and organist Sherri Lucas accompanying the
silent Laurel and Hardy film "Big Business." In the spring
we will celebrate the feast of the parish on Trinity Sunday with
evensong, singing the works of John Rutter, including his Te Deum.
Chancel Choir
The chancel choir has been singing
through repertoire to include choral music from the 17th to
the present century. The rehearsals are on Thursday evenings during the
academic year, beginning with a choir festival in the fall and
culminating in the Holy Trinity Festival in June. While the ability to
read music is helpful, it is not required. With a willing spirit,
instruction and practice will lead to wonderful experiences in worship.

Bell Choir
This is a group of young people and adults who meet regularly during
the school year to prepare special pieces of music on hand bells. The
bell choir rehearses
on Sunday mornings and participates in liturgies throughout the year.
The ability to read music is not required. Contact: Stephanie
Brandon (342-4215).
Children's Choir
In the 2004-05 academic
year, we hope to re-establish a children's choir, and/or perhaps a boy
choir. With the able help of some adults, we can achieve these goals in
conjunction with the religious education program. Contact:
Mike Fazio (526-5844).
