Adopt a Family for Christmas
Parishioners purchase gifts and clothing for the children of needy
families, some from Covenant to Care, others from the Salvation
Army. Christmas dinner components are purchased in bulk and
parishioners deliver the family packages a few days before
Christmas. Contributions can be in cash, time, or both. All are
needed. Contact: Marilyn Bengtson (346-1349).
Covenant to Care
Holy Trinity works with a social worker from the Middlesex Hospital
family advocacy program to provide help to families with special
needs. In addition to Christmas packages, we provide back-to-school
items in the fall and something special each spring. Items are
brought to the church by parishioners and delivered by our Covenant
to Care liaison. Contact: Sandra Wade (349-3959).
Head Start Book Buddies
As a way to provide books for young children who have little or no
experience with books or stories, a Book Buddy signs up to give a
book to a specific child three times during the year: October,
February and May. Books cost $5.00 each ($15 per year). They are
purchased and brought to Head Start by our Book Buddy chairperson.
Contact: Janice Dresher (347-1940).
Head Start Reading Volunteers
The three-and-four year olds of Head Start love to be read to but
have little opportunity to enjoy this activity either at home or by
busy teachers. This program allows volunteers to read to children on
a weekday morning at the Head Start branch on Main Street.
St. Luke's …..Faith Inspired Services for
Seniors
This senior housing facility was built on the site of the old Church
of the Holy Trinity rectory with federal assistance. A Board of
Managers actively participates in providing social programs for the
residents. St. Luke's sponsors
the Faith in Action Midstate Program, which mobilizes volunteers to
provide grocery shopping, transportation, minor home repairs and
friendly visiting for seniors living throughout the eight-town
midstate region of Middlesex County. (Call Cheryl Jackson at
347-0236 or

here for more information on this program.)

St. Vincent dePaul Soup Kitchen
The dedicated staff of this soup kitchen rests on Sunday evenings
and the local churches pick up the slack. An ever-changing group of
folks from Holy Trinity purchases, prepares, serves and cleans up
after a supper meal for about 125 people several times a year.
Contact: Robin Wade (635-2478).
Shut-In Services
Coordinated by the Episcopal Church Women (ECW), Shut-In Services
are held once a year (end of May) at our church for residents of
area convalescent homes. Some are ambulatory, others in wheelchairs.
Ambulances or handicap transportation brings them here. A Eucharist
and healing service is held, and a delicious luncheon is served at
tables set up in the church. More than a 100 people usually attend.
In 2002 the service was taped and has been aired on the Public
Access Television. There is a copy of the tape for anyone to borrow.
Contact: Cherry Czuba (349-1594).
