Holy Trinity

From the Rector's Desk

As many of you are aware I have a kind of inflammatory arthritis that eats away at the cartilage in my joints – mainly hips and knees at this point.  Two years ago I had my left hip replaced at the end of June and Steve Ling covered most of the joint (no pun intended) worship services for the summer.  At the advice of my surgeon, I am going to have my right knee replaced on June 21 of this year.  The condition has deteriorated to the point that it is causing pain and potential damage to other joints.

Steve will again be covering much of the summer with the able support and assistance of many of you, especially Father Ted and a number of other retired clergy who live in Middletown or surrounding towns.  I do not yet know how long I will be in a nursing facility or how long I will be unable to drive, but I would anticipate that I will be back in the swing by the time we return from worshipping in Portland at the end of August.

While this is not how I would prefer to spend my summer, with Steve’s presence and the national church’s short term disability program this is the best time to cause as little inconvenience to Holy Trinity as possible.  I will be at Holy Trinity the first three Sundays in June and after I get home from rehab I will certainly be available by phone and on line.  As in the past, I appreciate your prayers and kind thoughts.  They go a long way in helping the recovery process.

Yours in Christ,
